Racing
is a passion for a lot of us and the same applies to rider and owner,
Randy Mckey. He started working on suspensions back in December of
1978. Growing up in southern California, Randy was raised in the motocross
business. Being around the track, his brother's bikes and racing,
he started his hobby that grew over the years. His hobby for suspension
work coupled with his passion for riding dirt bikes quickly took off
into a fast growing endeavor. With approximately 30 years of suspension
tuning and re-building experience, Randy took his hobby to the next
level and founded Motoworks Suspension. Located in Gilbert, Arizona
and supporting the top Pro motocross riders in the state, Randy's
business has taken off at geometric rates.
Suspension
work focuses on springs, compression and rebound damping, Randy states,
"but the secret to tuning each system is in the shim stack, not a
valve body". Suspensions are like people's taste in clothing. Some
people like different fits, and styles, hence, one good suspension
setup is not good for all riders. Randy uses all his years of experience
to customize and tune a suspension geared for each individual rider.
There is no such thing as a template solution or guide that you can
follow. Each rider has their own experience level, style, weight and
riding type that dictates what their suspension needs are. Once this
information is defined, Randy goes to work and creates a custom solution
for you. Track-side testing is available to get the rider's suspension
dialed in to best fit their needs.
